Hell Froze Over:

After only a few minutes I’m already loving iTunes for Windows. Slick, functional interface. Surprisingly low CPU usage during playback (unless you enable visual effects). Gets the job done without fuss. It’s free. What more could a guy ask for?

Will Windows users now storm the iTunes music store and swell Apple’s pockets? Perhaps. Hard to believe we’ve had to wait this long though — not for iTunes, but for someone to get with the program and really start selling music in digital format to one monster of a consumer group.

Looks pretty slick to me too. Need to find time to test drive it some more though.

I *loved* iTunes when I had an iBook, next to iPhoto it was the best consumer app I’d ever used.

I agree. What a wonderful, useful, clean, smooth, functional, application. Blowing musicmatch and others out of the water just like that. The store is also very nice to use and easy to feel good about buying music online. Thanks Apple.

well, i must disagree. i’ve used winamp 2.x forever, and i gave iTunes a shot last week and was pretty much disapointed. besides being a bit of hog on resources (and gets some ipod related system services which i have no need for since i don’t own one), i felt a bit sluggish on a pIV 1.7 with 1gb of RAM, and, to top it all (i know, i should’ve known better), when i added some 30 Gb of mp3 to it’s library, it took the mp3s from it’s meticulously organized folders (i’m geek like that) and moved them into folders sorted by ID3 tag, which didn’t always match within the same artist or album for that matter. i love how good it looks, the streaming playlists and i haven’t deinstalled it yet, but i must say it was a bit of a let down.

Woa! I am glad you are back! I suddenly thought you had quit the blogging world.

iTunes is quite a hog, and I have a 2Ghz, 1GB Pentium machine. I meant, it works, it is just slow to start and slow throughout, at times.
